The 1ACross Gridfest which is commemorating the fifth anniversary of our Facebook Group 1ACross is launching today.
Starting today, a new grid will be uploaded for solving and submission by more than 50 registered participants.
The competition will continue till the end of the month and includes 21 grids that have been set by 28 setters. What is interesting is that the grids have been set by an eclectic group of setters – 5 Setters viz., Keith Williams, Eddie Looby, Ashley Smith, Brian Dungate and Steve Townsend based in the UK , 5 setters viz., Martin DeMello, Antonio Sarmiento, Ganesh Nayak, Viresh Ratnakar and Ratnakar Sonthi based in the US, Fa Ten Ismail in Italy, Sowmya Ramkumar in Bahrain and 16 setters viz CG Rishikesh, Kishore Rao, Bhalchandra Pasupathy, Satyen Nabar, S Sreenivasan, Bash Ashok, Amrita Majumdar, Aashwina Mouli, Neelima Rai, Ajeesh VM, Mona Sogal, Supriya Mithal, Kumaresh Ramakrishnan, Loks Subrahmanyam, Pranav Bhople and Sridhar Vedantham in various locations in India.
In addition, nearly every grid in the contest has been test solved / closely scrutinized by two of three professional setters (Ramki Krishnan, Bhalchandra Pasupathy and Sowmya Ramkumar) and many new as well as seasoned setters have gained some insight and value addition from the critical review and feedback.
Such a unique combination of participants and players makes this Gridfest truly international.
The Gridfest has also been successful in raising sponsorship and prizes worth INR 40,000 /-USD. 600 are going to be awarded to the top 3 setters as well as the top 3 solvers. All sponsorship and support has been provided by members of the 1ACross Facebook group.
An Ebook with all the grids in the competition is under compilation by Sowmya Ramkumar, who is Co-ordinating the Gridfest and is going to be released at the end of the contest.
A Big thanks to our setters and sponsors and wish all our participants the very best in the Gridfest.

When ” Clear” command is given, all letters in the word is cleared. I think the crossing letters should be allowed to be there.
On completion of a word, the cursor automatically jumps to the next down / across light. The cursor may be allowed to be in the last letter of the typed word.
