Stats -We had a good response to “Manpasand” and there were 26 submissions for this puzzle. Of those who submitted 15 got the full grid score of 26 and only 4 people got the maximum possible score of 33. Here’s the Solution grid

The following questions were asked at the end of the puzzle..

    1. Identify the theme and list two theme words
    2. Identify two theme words in clue surfaces, where the answer is not part of the theme
    3. The verse in the header leads to the phrase “Yes, All – – – – – – – are – – – – -” Fill in the blanks

The correct answers to these were

(1) Theme is “words of Indian origin”. Any 2 of the following – 8A – SAINA, 22A- MANDIR, 24A – DELHI, 26A – JAWAN, 5D.- SAMOSA, 21D – ASHRAM
(2) Any 2 of the following 10A,22D,16A – Arjun, 4D – Tamil, 6D – Hazare, 15D – Lonavla
(3) “If you solved, this I must say ‘Well fought’
Look at the end of all you sought
All except first primes seven
But not without exception
The sixth drops by one
And # 8 fills in for seven
With trial and error will surface
A universal fact that is a phrase
Connected to the thread
Bung it in before you go to bed”

1st line – filler
2ND Line – Take last letters of all solution words
Except the first 7 primes viz Clue numbers 2,3,5,7,11,13,17
But the 6th one (13) becomes one less (12) and the 8th one 19 takes the place of 17
Instruction is therefore to take last letters of all clues except 2,3,5,7,11,12 and 19.
Trial and error – anagram the rest
Solution
YES, ALL INDIANS ARE SMART (Universal fact – also related to the theme – India)
