The Clue was “Doubtful as to its truth, ultimately? (2,2,2)”.

The Answer was “IS THAT SO”.  The solution is an anagram of AS TO ITS and H (Truth – ultimately – indicating the last letter). The anagram indicator is “Doubtful”.

This is a (Semi) &Lit clue since the entire clue read together also provides the definition.
