Spotless response from our readers for yesterday’s post and it was tough to “spot” wrong answers
Congrats to Sandhya Paruchuri (our first one in), Neha Bhandari, Samit Kallianpur, Joy Bhattacharjya, John Chute, Eddie Looby, Shrikanth T, Tulika Das, Dhirendra, Crypt Ella, Koteswara Rao, Arvind Ramaswamy, Santosh Iyer, Venkatraghavan S., Debasmita, Raghavan S V, Camelia Oberoi and Guruswamy Nataraj who got it correct.
The Clue was “A silent criminal hiding in ship, not spotted anywhere (9)”.
The Answer was “STAINLESS”. Here, “Criminal” is an anagrind – a word that lets you know that you need to jumble words that are adjacent to it. “A SILENT” needs to be jumbled and then inserted into SS (which is a crossword abbreviation for Ship or Steamship
The annotation is S[A SILENT]*S
The Definition is “not spotted anywhere” which is a cheeky cryptic definition for “STAINLESS”. Once again, well done to each of you who not only solved it but also annotated it correctly in our blog post. Commiserations to Raja and Akash who missed out this time – Better luck on this clue..
