Update by Sowmya -25th February 2017 – We had a spectacular response for the contest and we’re swamped by a mind boggling 123 clues from 24 setters in 36 hours, breaking all previous records set here.

Like last time, 38 of our members took time to vote and while it was a struggle for me as the host, to restrict the initial shortlist to ten, the final winner has emerged quite seamlessly.

Thanks to all of you who participated and submitted entries. You can view the entries received in this contest here.

Here are the results of our poll..

Setter Clue Votes
Viresh Ratnakar Subject matter in “Out of Africa”, perhaps 18
SSv Avtaar What’s inside the cave of forty thieves, perhaps ? 9
Kishore Happy to change direction in game 18
Aashwina Text orderly – “Sister’s gone” 8
Ramki Krishnan Firm and determined, one leaves to get satisfaction 11
Mona Sogal Agreeable matter 11
Sandhya Glad Australia’s not batting 22
Santha Ramachandran Serenity of music on tenth channel 12
Amrita Majumdar Many playing table tennis have even been rejoicing 4
Chatur Vasi Popular exodus from mainland causes comfort 1

Santha’s serene telescopic clue picked up 12 votes for the bronze. Viresh and Kishore’s clues each picked up 18 votes and took the joint Silver. It was Sandhya’s content sigh of relief that the Ozzies weren’t batting that won the Gold with a whopping 22 votes.

This clue is now in our 1ACCWC Hall of Fame. Congrats to Sandhya, Viresh, Kishore and Santha.

A special shout out to the top setters in this game – Chatur Vasi (21), SSv Avatar (17) Santha Ramachandran (12) and Ashley Smith (11). These four setters by themselves contributed to 50% of all the content in this contest. Many of these clues were brilliant and I am really content that every possible word play idea has been well exploited in this game.

A big thank you to our star setters and all members who participated and voted with great enthusiasm.
